What makes it great
Benefits of .NET 8
.NET 8 continues Microsoft’s evolution of its unified development platform, focusing on
stability, performance and scalability for modern application development. This release introduces
significant improvements that boost developer productivity and enable seamless cross-platform
development.
Long-term support (LTS)
One of the most significant benefits of .NET 8 is its Long-Term Support designation. With LTS,
you’re guaranteed a minimum of three years of support, including security patches and bug
fixes. This makes .NET 8 an ideal choice for production applications where stability and long-term
maintenance are critical — particularly enterprise applications that require consistency and
reliability over extended periods.
Performance optimizations
.NET 8 builds on the already impressive performance of .NET 7, introducing further improvements
across the runtime and libraries. Memory management, JIT compilation and garbage collection have
been fine-tuned to reduce latency and improve throughput. The result is faster startup times and
more efficient use of system resources — especially beneficial for cloud-native apps where
performance translates directly into compute cost savings.
C# 12 features
.NET 8 ships alongside C# 12, which introduces new language features designed to make code more
concise and expressive. Highlights include primary constructors, expanded pattern matching and
new types for representing large numbers. These updates make it easier to write clean, efficient
and maintainable code.
Enhanced Blazor capabilities
Blazor — the framework for building interactive web UIs with C# — receives important
updates in .NET 8. Both Blazor WebAssembly and Blazor Server see performance improvements,
reducing load times and enhancing interactivity. Blazor Hybrid is more robust, making it easier
to combine web technologies with native desktop and mobile components.
Runtime settings for .NET 8 apps
Your application brings its own target framework; in the Control Panel you choose the ASP.NET Core hosting model (InProcess is recommended, OutOfProcess is supported with the DLL runtime) and whether the application pool runs as 32-bit, which is the default, or 64-bit. Saving a change recycles the application pool and the site is back within seconds. Environment variables are set per website and applied on the next application start.
Deploy .NET 8 from GitHub or Visual Studio
Connect a GitHub repository, choose Build .NET app and we run dotnet publish on our server — see GitHub deploy. Prefer the IDE? Download the publish profile from the Control Panel, import it in Visual Studio and publish with Web Deploy, which uploads only the files that changed.
.NET 8 hosting for production apps
.NET 8 is a robust, high-performance platform that continues to enhance the developer experience
with long-term stability, cutting-edge performance optimizations and strong cross-platform support.
Whether you’re building cloud-native applications, interactive web UIs with Blazor, or
